\nFirst, we want to clarify for your readers, and you, that Mr. Berisha was not the chairman of DPA from 2013, when he resigned after defeat in the parliamentary elections of that year, till May 22, 2022, when he was re-elected to this post by the party members.

\nAll actions, according to the Court, were carried out in a personal capacity, not in an institutional one, by the then chairman of the party, Mr. Basha.
\nThe statute of the Democratic Party clearly states that decisions regarding lobbying, use of money, etc. are made by the collegial bodies, not the Chairman.
\nFurthermore, upon being elected the new chairman of DPA, Mr. Berisha set up an internal Audit Commission to look into the claims made regarding ‘Russian financing’, i.e. the documentation, if any, and the financial inflows and outflows that coincide with this case. This initiative was not because of any legal obligations, but a moral obligation to be transparent with the party members and other partner institutions.
